Recently, the Akron Beacon Journal, a publication in Ohio, announced the birth of two healthy twins (and twins aren’t that rare). Approximately 1 in 285 babies is a twin. What was rare, though, was that the twins were formed in such a way where they shared the same amniotic sac and placenta.
The rare babies are known as “monoamniotic twins” and are the rarest type of twins. When pregnant with mono twins, there are risks, including birth defects and tangled umbilical cords that might kill a twin. However, these two girls were born healthy… and doing something adorable.

These little girls are precious miracles, but as it turns out, they won’t be the only mono mono twins in the hospital. As rare as the event is, another patient named Amanda Arnold is set to give birth to mono mono twins this week.
