After Annabelle Earl recently learned from her babysitter’s daughter what a flower girl is, she wanted to be one. Unfortunately, no one in her family’s circle is getting married in the foreseeable future.
So what to do? How were 4-year-old Annabelle’s flower-girl dreams going to come true?
Then Mom had an idea. People get married down at city hall all the time, and since most of these people are going to be having rather sparse weddings ceremonially speaking, they would be in need of…you guessed it…a flower girl.
So Annabelle got dressed up in her nicest dress and went shopping for a flower girl’s most important accessory…
She selected the perfect bouquet…
And then went downtown in search of a wedding.
When the sign didn’t work soon enough, the eager young lady simply asked a couple if she could be their flower girl. When they smilingly declined, Annabelle was undeterred, asking the next couple she saw.
They agreed.
The bride explained, “She was too adorable to say no to, and we thought it would be fun to make her day as well as ours.”
When their number was called, the couple and Annabelle stood and played their parts perfectly.
At one point, Annabelle even remembered to get scared and run to her mom’s lap. Classic flower girl.
After the ceremony, Annabelle gave the bride her flowers and learned from her the surprising news that this wedding wouldn’t include a reception. No problem. She and her mom stopped in at a local bakery to make sure the day ended as it should — with cake.
After dessert, mom texted the newly-weds a picture of their flower girl with her wish for them — “Here’s to a sweet future.”
