You may have noticed earlier today that Facebook was down for about 25 minutes. This definitely qualifies as an emergency for Facebook itself, who probably lost about $425,000 because of the outage. And other businesses dependent on Facebook certainly weren’t happy about it, either.
But did it truly qualify as an emergency emergency? You know, the kind you call the police about?
Apparently, too many people thought so in and around Los Angeles. During the outage Sergeant Brink of the L.A. County Sheriff department tweeted…
People were actually calling 911 about Facebook being down!
To which we can only respond. Seriously?
And the answer is Yes, seriously…
Facebook is back up and running now. So obviously all the 911 calls must have worked…
