A fossil is the remains or impression of an organism that lived in prehistoric times that has been preserved in rock. We have learned about the millions of years that have gone by without documentation by examining fossils that were exhumed by paleontologists.
These, however, are some of the strangest finds dug up by scientists. They still taught us about the past… but the main thing learned from these fossils is this: the world used to be a pretty insane place.

Animals were bigger, the Earth was scarier and basically everything from that time period has been viciously destroyed. Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about saber-toothed squirrels or giant ants. Normal ones are bad enough.
