Cleveland resident Cheri Fiorilli paid $50 for a basketball hoop to keep the kids in her neighborhood busy. Technically, the city of Cleveland doesn’t permit street basketball due to safety concerns, but enforcement of the ordinance is weak. Most people prefer to see kids tied up in a game of basketball rather than get involved in a number of other activities that might be possibilities. And neighborhood streets with slow traffic have served as de facto playgrounds for years.
Somehow, though, Fiorilli drew the ire of the Cleveland Police Department. She was slapped with $182 in court fees, and — in an absurd scene — cops tipped the hoop into their trunk and drove away with it dragging behind…

While an argument can certainly be made for finding a safer place for kids to play away from traffic, it seems this could have been resolved with a little less towing.
