An unusual situation arose during a March 16 playoff hockey game between the Eindhoven Gamecocks and the Geleen Smoke Eaters of the Dutch Premier League.
Eindhoven’s goalie had a brother who happened to be a referee at the game, and their father was in attendance, too. Midgame, dad intervened in an altercation that broke out in the stands and was jumped by two other men in the process, getting knocked to the ground and put in a choke hold.
Naturally, both brothers rushed to their dad’s defense, creating a bizarre scene in which a hockey fight involved fans, players, and members of the officiating crew…
