When Zack Brown opened his Kickstarter for potato salad, he couldn’t have imagined it would get as big as it has.
Zack set a goal of just $10 for his project, which had a simple purpose:
Basically I’m just making potato salad. I haven’t decided what kind yet.
With that insanely simple premise, he quickly raised about $100.
Zack’s bewildering project gained a little more steam four days ago when it was posted to a subreddit dedicated to crappy Kickstarters. From there, the project has spiraled out of control, with Zack now having raised thousands of dollars to make what will have to be an epic potato salad.
The more incentives Zack comes up with, the more people snatch them up.
After hitting his initial $10 goal, Zack added a few stretch goals…
Once Zack’s initial stretch goals were met, he came up with a few new ones that reveal just how unprepared he was to manage this sort of attention…
Again, supporters blew through those goals, so Zack came up with the biggest stretch goals he could imagine…
With thousands of dollars raised just in the last day, Zack’s sure to add more insane stretch goals soon.
Of course, with such a strange Kickstarter, there have been a number of questions from backers that he’s tried to answer in his FAQ.
People want to know what kind of potato salad he’s going to make…
…what kind of potatoes he’s going to use…
…and of course, the ingredients he’ll be working with…
It’s clear that Zack has no idea what he’s doing making a potato salad. Fortunately, Kickstarter includes a section called “Risks and challenges” where backers can be informed of any concerns the creator has with their project.
Zack has one understandable concern…
