A group of about a dozen kinds of dogs are sometimes lumped into the category of “Bully Breeds.” These include the likes of Rottweilers, boxers, and pit bulls. Because of their ignominious and sinister reputation, these dogs are more likely to be put down at shelters rather than be adopted.
Alongside his professional work, photographer Douglas Sonders has an ongoing personal project which he hopes can help a bit in turning the tide of public opinion that is so often against these animals.
