When a 14-year-old kid running from police sped through a park filled with children, Bryson Rowley sprung into action. Having seen the teenager drive through the park twice already, Rowley wasn’t going to let his kids be put in danger a third time. Rowley positioned his 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck in front of the park entrance and when the teen returned to the park, Rowley pulled in front of him, finally bringing the dangerous chase to a heart-stopping end.
When Bryan Ellison saw the story on the news that night, the co-owner of an auto body shop called West Valley Carstar decided to help. Rowley’s insurance company wouldn’t cover the damages since the accident was technically intentional, so Ellison had a rental car dropped off at Ellison’s house and towed his truck away.
Ellison reached out to other local businesses for suspension parts, bumpers, and other parts needed for the $7,500 repair. As more business heard about what happened, they stepped forward to help.
By the time Rowley got his truck back, it had $15,000 worth of improvements — twice the amount required — done free of charge. Upgrades to the diesel pickup included new turbos, front differential parts, fuel system, rear bumper, and shocks. A stunned Rowley even reports that he gets better gas mileage now than he did before.
The transformation to Rowley’s truck is amazing, but it’s the support he got from his community that’s captured everybody’s attention…
