Pig the Dog is adorable…
But what isn’t obvious in the photo above is that Pig is about half the size of a normal dog and — unfortunately — severely deformed…
Born to a feral mom and found in the woods near Atlanta, a veterinarian who initially looked him over recommended euthanasia. But when Kim Dillenbeck heard about the unusual animal, she had to see her for herself.
It wasn’t long before Dillenbeck, who has rescued many animals before, knew she’d be taking Pig home with her to Alabama…
Pig’s health concerns become more clear under an X-ray. Her spine is incomplete, with portions missing and vertebrae that are fused and twisted, along with a spinal cord that divides into two separate cords at her neck. She’s also missing a few of her ribs and has joints and hips that are rotated in the wrong positions…
However, the happy pup is still growing and as long as she doesn’t gain too much weight, she has a chance to survive into adulthood in her new, caring home…
