Danny Nickerson turns 6 today.
On Monday we posted about how all this little fellow with inoperable cancer wanted for his birthday was cards. Hundreds of other sites shared the story as well.
And not only did you as the people of the internet share the story, you acted on it, too. Thousands of you.
A week and a half ago, as word was just getting out that Danny was hoping to get some mail, his mom posted this picture about all the cards he was getting…
Then a few days later she shared this image of Danny with what at that point felt like a windfall of cards…
And then this…
But they still didn’t the deluge that was in store for them.
For the last three days, the Nickersons and their friends have been picking up mail from the post office almost full time.
Today was amazing! Although we felt like we were running a marathon all day, it was great!…
How much mail were they getting? Enough that all the cars between them didn’t provide enough space…
Danny’s grandpa and pops went to rent a Uhaul…. Todays total rough count was a little over 8500 cards and 900 packages!!! We filled the Uhaul completely up! And then filled 3 cars too!
That was a couple days ago. At this point, the totals have reached well beyond 15,000 and are still coming in.
You may wonder if this has become more of a hassle than a blessing. It doesn’t seem so. Danny’s mom continues…
We are in awe of all of this, we are speechless and dont have enough words to explain how thankful we are for everyone of you! And all the love that you have shown us and continue to show us!…
Thank you all for being with us on this journey and showering up with support, love and prayers. May God bless you in return for all the blessing you have given us.
And how has Danny responded to all this?
When we got home and unloaded all the boxes, Danny climbed to the top of the pile and laid down and hung out…
Awesome. Happy Birthday, Danny!
